According to reports from Nigerian Crime Times, the man pictured above had his hand chopped off at Aka Itiam/Ibiam Street in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria while trying to steal a flat screen TV from a football viewing centre.
The angry mob at the scene apprehended him while in the act and decided to mete out this rather extreme Jungle justice on me. Incidence of Jungle justice such as this have become very common in many parts of Nigeria where the people don't trust the police to discharge its duty satisfactorily.
"Many times when you hand over a thief caught to the Nigerian police, they will release the thief after they must have been bribed.", explained David Okonkwo, an eyewitness.
