LASPOTECH Rector Must Go- Lecturers And NASU Protest

Hundreds of lecturers and Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, of the Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH, yesterday stormed the State House of Assembly to protest 87 months of unpaid arrears and other injuctices, demanding the immediate sack of the rector of the institution, Samuel Sogunro.

The protesters said the State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has been doing a lot to reposition the institution, including increasing subvention for the school, but lamented that the management of the crisis-torn institution is scuttling the governor’s effort to make the school worthwhile.

Ex-husband Of NBC Vice President Chokes Their Daughter To Death 2 Months After She Filed For Divorce

The estranged husband of an NBC vice president has been arrested for suffocating their seven-year-old daughter at the family home he had just surrendered to his ex-wife.

Neil White, 47, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of his daughter Gabrielle.

The child's mother, NBCUniversal talent acquisition vice president Michelle Hord-White, had filed for divorce from White in April and was not at the home in New Rochelle at the time of the horrific incident.

Delta State Police nabs man with human parts stored in jerry cans and concealed in bags of garri

A 45-year old man suspected to be a ritualist and member of a kidnapping gang was arrested with human body parts in Delta State.
The suspect, Feix Nnalu Chibogwu, was arrested last Sunday at about 10:30 am in Abavo with human body parts stored in kegs in which he poured a preservative fluid.

Federal Government reacts to calls by Northern youths for Igbos to vacate the region on or before Oct. 1st

The Federal government has reacted to the threat made by some Northern Youths on Igbos who reside in the region. The youths had at a meeting in Kaduna state on Tuesday, asked Igbos to relocate from the region on or before October 1st or they would have their properties taken from them.
In a statement released Wednesday evening, the minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the Federal government would deal decisively with anyone found making inciting comments.

Cult Members Throw Rival Into Lagos Lagoon

A suspected cult member identified as Ahmed Suleiman is being held in police custody for allegedly killing a man said to be a member of a rival gang.

Punch  Metro learnt that 27-year-old Suleiman connived with two others at large to throw the victim, whose name had yet to be ascertained, into a lagoon on Carter Bridge, Ebute Ero, Lagos State.

It was gathered that the suspects had trailed their target from Ilorin, Kwara State, to Lagos.

The three-man gang was said to have accosted the victim around 11.30am on Monday, tied his hands to the back and threw him into the lagoon.

Ugandan billionaire businessman's over 30 children at his funeral leaves people in shock

Ugandan billionaire educationist and founder of St Lawrence schools, Prof Lawrence Mukiibi was laid to rest on Friday, June 1st in his ancestral home at Katenden. He died at the age of 71.

However, one small event left mourners and Ugandans in shock...the number of his children, whom he had outside wedlock as he had no official wife.

Those in attendance counted over 30 children of the deceased, some of them as young as few months. Reports claims that he fathered more than 80 kids from his students.

Zari Hassan given the mandate to manage her billionaire ex-husband’s empire

Ugandan socialite, Zari Hassan, has been given authority to manage the business empire of her deceased ex-husband, Ivan Semwanga, who died last month.
The decision was reached after a lengthy meeting at Ivan’s home in Uganda on Saturday and was attended by Zari and the deceased’s family including his closest friend, Godfrey Kirumira.
According to Ugandan celebrity website Sqoop, the meeting suggested that Zari takes care of her Ivan’s Brooklyn schools together with other colleges in South Africa.

"I have sold 20 children in two years" 22-year-old female child trafficker arrested in Anambra

A 22-year-old woman arrested by the Special Armed Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Anambra State Police Command has confessed to having sold 20 children since she went into child trafficking business. Most of the children she sold between N150,000 - N200,000, were kidnapped on their way home from school. The suspect, Chinaza Onwuasoanya was impregnated by her boyfriend in Lagos and returned to Anambra State to have the baby after which she sold the child to a 45-year-old woman, Goodness, who runs an orphanage, which the police allege was a cover for a baby trafficking operation.

Fruit Seller Caught With Stolen Child


A fruit seller, identified simply as Umar, has been caught with a sack containing a one-year-old child he allegedly abducted on Ayodele Awodeyi Street, Mile 12, Lagos State.

Punch Metro learnt that the boy, Isiaq Ismail, was playing with his peers in front of his parents’ residence when Umar, who sold cucumbers, held him by the hand under the pretext of playing with him.

It was learnt that other children ran inside the house and informed Isiaq’s parents that he was with a man outside.

It was gathered that the mother rushed out only to see Umar fleeing with something in the sack he was carrying. There was no sign of Isiaq.

Pregnant teenager involved in a car crash gives birth at the roadside just moments before dying of her injuries

Joanna Delgado, 18, of Kerman, California, gave birth by the roadside immediately after she was involved in a head-on car crash on Sunday night. The teenager died just after delivering her baby girl via c-section at the crash site while the baby died a day later in the hospital in California.

Joanna had been driving a Honda Civic when she suddenly swerved over the middle of the lane and collided head-on with another vehicle. Adriana Solorio Romero, 24, who was driving the other vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Five Points, California.  Early reports indicate drugs or alcohol were not involved in the accident.

Ivory Coast's Cheick Tiote Is Dead

A former Newcastle and Ivory Coast midfielder, Cheick Tiote is dead! He died after collapsing in training with his Chinese team. Tiote was four months into a new career at Bejiing Enterprises when his death was announced today by agent Emanuele Palladino.

“We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time.. We ask for all your prayers, Palladino said while announcing his death.

Abia State Police arrest pastor who operates baby factory, illegal medical centre in his church

The Abia State Police Command have arrested a pastor who operates an illegal medical centre and Baby Factory in his church. Briefing newsmen on Monday, June 5th, at the State Police Headquarters, Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adeleye Oyebade, who parade the pastor along with other suspect, disclosed that on May 24th,, information was received that a storey building located at Faulks Road Aba, which doubles as a Church and Medical centre was converted to Baby Factory.

'I did not kill my husband' - woman accused of killing her hubby in Ibadan tells court

The murder case of Mrs Yewande Oyediran, the woman who allegedly stabbed her husband, 38 year old Oyediran Ajanaku to death at their Akobo estate home in Ibadan, Oyo state on February 2nd 2016 after a domestic dispute (Read here), came up for hearing yesterday June 5th.

During her cross examination, Yewande denied killing her husband, claiming she loved him. Led in evidence by her lead Counsel, Leye Adepoju, Yewande narrated how her late husband met his untimely death on the day of the incident.
