The son of a mafia boss' is facing life in jail for gunning down his best pal who simply 'liked' a Facebook picture of his girlfriend.

Victim Francesco Prestia, 19, was left dead in an olive field in Mileto, Italy, with three bullets in his chest. His killer has been named in Italian media as 15-year-old Alex Pititto, the son of 'Ndrangheta mafia boss Salvatore Pititto, known as 'El Tio', or the Uncle.

Pititto saw the Facebook 'like' as a "lack of respect".

For the last three years, 38-year-old Augustine Joseph and his accomplice, 49-year-old George Ijie, had targeted event centres in Lagos, in a stealing spree, which the police put a stop to recently.

Saturday Punch learnt that the duo had at different times hit event centres in the state pretending to be ushers, journalists or guests.

Joseph in his statement to the police explained that his life of crime started in 2013 after he lost his job with a construction company and tried to find another job without success.

The father of two explained that he worked in a hotel in Ajao Estate after he arrived Lagos in 2009. According to him, his work as a waiter in the hotel would later prove useful.

Bird Flu returns to 7 states in Nigeria - Federal Government warns

The Federal Government through the Director of Veterinary and Pest Control Services of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, has alerted the general public on the recent outbreak of bird flu in Nigeria. The director Mr Gideon Mshelbwala in a statement listed the states affected by the outbreak to include Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Nasarawa, Plateau, FCT and lastly Kaduna, which reported a case on May 30.

A man by the name Bren Mwaura has left tongues wagging after he took to Facebook to apologise for cheating on his wife. The poor guy even mentioned the name of the lady he had an affair with and promised to never stray again.

Police Arrest Mom Of Four For Alleged Scam

The Police Special Fraud Unit has arrested a mother of four in Benin for alleged internet fraud and cybercrime.

Iyobosa Owen, a professional table tennis player, is accused of creating a fraudulent Facebook account in the name of William Walton and using it to defraud her victims.

According to the police, Ms. Owen connived with one Efe Martin, who is said to reside in South Africa, to obtain €25,000 (about N9 million) from a Belgian woman in a love scam.

“Sometime in February, 2017, Iyobosa told the victim to wire the money from her account in Luxembourg, Belgium, to nominated account in the United States of America,” the police said in a statement.

House Of Representatives propose six months jail term for anyone that jumps queues

The House of Representatives is proposing a six months jail term for anyone caught jumping queues in public places. The bill which is currently on the floor of the house, scaled second reading yesterday June 1st.

According to the sponsor of the bill, Abubakar Amuda-Kannike (Kwara-APC), the bill if passed will ensure that Nigerians conduct themselves orderly in public places.

Bauchi Teenagers Abduct & Rape Schoolgirl

The police in Bauchi State have arrested two teenagers, Mahmud Abdullahi and Abdullahi Mohammed, for allegedly abducting and raping a schoolgirl in the Nasarawa Ward of the state.

Punch correspondent learnt that Abdullahi, 18, and Mohammed, 19, were arrested on Friday, May 26 at about 8am following an intelligence report.
A tricycle which was allegedly used to convey the victim to a bush where she was raped was also recovered from the suspects.

Judges To Go On Strike Over Non-Payment Of Dressing Allowances

Customary court judges in Plateau State on Wednesday intensified threats to go on strike over the non-payment of nine-year outstanding dressing allowances.

Already, the judges, under the aegis of Sharia, Area and Customary Court Judges Association of Nigeria, Plateau State chapter, has issued Governor Simon Lalong a two-week ultimatum within which he should pay the allowances.

The Chairman of SACCJAN, Ayuba Danzel, and secretary, Frank Lojok, in the strike notice dated May 23, 2017, lamented the discrimination in the payment of dressing allowances which their counterparts in the Ministry of Justice had been enjoying.

Christian Association Of Nigeria begs Federal Government to take over LAUTECH

Following the ongoing crisis facing Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, the Christian Associations of Nigeria (CAN) in Ogbomoso Zone has sent a plea letter to Federal Government to take over the institution as a Federal University.
Academic activities in the school have been shut down for many months now due to a faceoff between the staff of the school and the Osun and Ondo state governments that are co-owners of the school. Lecturers are demanding the payment of the arrears of their salary that amounts to N7.1 billion while students have been protesting over the unending strike.

42-year old man arrested for defiling two under-aged girls with Bobo drinks

42-year old Aminu Umar pictured above has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly defiling his neighbors two under-aged girls, 4, 7 at the same time on several occasions after luring them with Bobo drinks to his apartment.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at 5 Salako street in Oko- Oba area in the suburb of Lagos where both the suspect and victims parents reside. 

According to Police sources, the Kano state-born who is a butcher usually return early to their house after he finished killing cows at abattoir. While he was at home, he would lure the victims into his apartments with Bobo drinks when their parents were not around and defiled them.

Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian Prisons Service, with the support of men of the State Security Service, SSS has recaptured condemned Hausa film  actress, Rabi Ismail, who escaped from Hadejia Prison on December 16, 2011. Rabi Ismail was sentenced to death by hanging, for culpable homicide by a High Court in Kano on the 5th of January, 2005.
She was subsequently held in Kaduna Central prison from where she was transferred to Hadejia prison before she escaped about 6 years ago.

Kidnappers of six students from Igbonla Model School Lagos state reduce ransom

The kidnappers of six male students of the Igbonla Model School, Igbonla near Epe in Lagos state, have reduced the N1 billion ransom they initially asked parents of the students to pay.

According to reports, the kidnappers have asked some of the parents with good jobs to pay between N20 million and N50 million ransom while others with not so good jobs were asked to pay lesser for the release of their sons.

Parents of the abducted students and the management of the school had a meeting yesterday to decide on how they can contribute towards paying the ransom. According to Vanguard, the meeting ended in a deadlock as the school management informed the parents they were not going to be a party to ransom payment.

Church Members Desert Church Over Sacking Of Presiding Chaplain

The Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, was a shadow of itself on Sunday during the Sunday service as many members of the church did not show up.

Punch Metro, during a visit to the church, observed that the chapel was sparsely filled as the service, which usually ended around 1pm, was brought to a close at 11.30am.

Of the 30 church members that were supposed to be part of the birthday thanksgiving service for the month of May, only nine were present.

Muslim Man Sues Pizza Chain For $100m After Being Served Pizza With Pork Pepperoni


A Muslim man is suing America’s third largest pizza chain for $100 million after being served a pizza labelled halal which was topped with pork pepperoni.  

Mohamad Bazzi ordered two halal pizzas twice from Little Caesars branch in Dearborn, Michigan. 

The boxes were labelled halal but were topped with pork, a food which is banned under Islamic law.

Mr Bazzi and his wife were halfway through eating the pizza when they realised they had been eating pork pepperoni, he said in the lawsuit.

20-year-old girl sets boyfriend's house ablaze

                    

Priscilla Berfi, a 20-year-old Ghanaian girl has rendered her boyfriend homeless after she recently set his house at Deduako in the Oforikrom Constituency of the Ashanti Region ablaze for allegedly cheating on her.
Pulse Ghana reports that there were no casualties recorded but the fire destroyed several properties.
Narrating the shocking incident, the boyfriend, Kofi Adusei said he had ceased taking care of Priscilla, who is pregnant due to her bad attitude and lack of respect towards him.
