Tinubu, Ambode, Steve Ayorinde in their regalia turn up for Eyo Festival in Lagos

Despite the heavy downpour in Lagos today, the Eyo Festival was held at the Tafawa Balawe Square and it turned out to be colourful.

The festival was part of activities to mark the state's 50th anniversary and the Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode was present alongside the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, Oba Saheed Elegushi and several others.

Uber driver destroys female passenger's phone and attempts to assault her physically and gets violent

An Uber driver called Jude Idoko allegedly tried to physically assault a female passenger after he had broken her phone and it was only the timely intervention of passersby that kept him from carrying out further assault on the woman.

Jude, who drives a Toyota Corolla, had reportedly  picked the woman for a trip to Yaba but during the journey, he demanded that the trip be made "off book" and she should pay N10,000. She refused and he turned aggressive.

Cross- River State Governor Orders Appointees To Wear Made-In-Calabar Clothes

Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, on Thursday ordered political appointees to immediately start to patronise clothes made in the Calabar Garment Factory.

The first roll-out from the factory has hit the market with the production of blazers, jeans, and shirts.

The governor, who spoke shortly after being presented with samples of finished products from the factory alongside some paramilitary outfits, said he was determined to boost its patronage and make the factory economically viable.

A woman was beaten to a pulp by her husband in Kwara state yesterday May 17th. Twitter user, M.A Olatoki shared a video of the man rushing his wife to the hospital after she fainted during the beating. He was arrested by officers of the Ganmo Police station in Ilorin. This morning, the Nigerian entertainment industry was thrown into mourning with the sad news of the death of actress, Moji Olaiya who passed away in Canada at the age of 42.

Reports have it that the actress who welcomed her first child barely two months ago has been in and out of the hospital since her childbirth and just 24 hours before the news of her death broke, Moji shred a cute photo of her self smiling in a living room with the caption,
'Alliamdulilahi to you Allah I give all the glory for all you have done. I will forever praise and worship you. It's not by power but the Grace of Allah. Thank you for the gift of life. Thanks also to all my friends and family my fans for your supports and prayers. Love you all'.

So Sad! Hoodlums kill Imam, wife, 4 children in Ijebu-Ode

A Muslim cleric, Sheik Yusuf Amzat-Salam, 35, his wife and four children were killed by hoodlums yesterday in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun.

The killings occurred at Atiba area of Odogbolu Local Government Area. It was gathered that the eldest child, a girl, was aged 11, followed by her twin brothers, aged 8 and the last female child, aged 2.

All the victims had since been buried accordance to Muslim rites amid wailing. The attackers, whose motive could not be ascertained, butchered the entire household with machetes.

Workers at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on Tuesday, May 16, held elaborate party following the suspension of their embattled Vice chancellor, Prof. Olusola Oyewole over corruption charges.
The Federal Government last Thursday suspended the Prof Oyewole and his counterpart at the Federal University of Technology Prof Adebiyi Daramola in connection with their arraignment on criminal charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Obas Council Gives Olugbo Four Days To Withdraw Statement Over Saying That He Is The Leader Of All Yoruba Obas

The Secretary General, Council of Yoruba Obas, Oba Aderemi Adedapo, has described the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Fredrick Akinruntan, as a rabble rouser and an attention-seeking monarch for declaring himself as the leader of all Yoruba Obas.

Olugbo had while speaking at an event in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Sunday, said, “I am the leader of all obas in Yorubaland. I speak with thunder in my mouth and I make bold to say so. No one is above me in Yorubaland inasmuch as it has been accepted that we are from Ife. I am the one that Oduduwa met at Ife. We are the husband of Moremi Ajasoro.

How LAUTECH students prevented JAMB Candidates from writing exams

There was mild drama at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State on Monday, as aggrieved students shut the school gates to prevent UTME candidates from writing their examination scheduled for Monday morning.
The gates were reportedly locked by 5am after the student leaders had a meeting insisting that government must fight the crisis in the institution before admitting new students.

"Old slay queens should retire" - Young Nigerian female secondary school leavers declare on social media as they share raunchy photos

A young girl 'Mhiz Dani CHilota on Facebook' shared these photos of herself and friends who just finished secondary school posing seductively. Her caption raised eyebrows as she declared her clique 'slay queens' out to retire others.

"WAEC newly released... Slay queen.... pls old slay queens...should Pls retire," she captioned the photos. Question is, where are their parents or guardians?
 

Hairdresser Commits Suicide Over N150K Loan

A hairdresser, Yetunde Oladipupo, aka Iyabo, has committed suicide on Onabola Street, Owotutu, in the Somolu area of Lagos State.

Punch Metro learnt that Oladipupo took an insecticide, Sniper, on Friday shortly after seeing off some friends who had visited her.

Although the cause of the visit could not be ascertained by our correspondent, it was gathered that the mother of four went to a shop afterwards and bought the insecticide.

She was alleged to have taken it and was later rushed to the General Hospital, Gbagada, where she died.

20 year old man arrested for killing his roommate who knew he was an armed robber

The Ogun state police command have arrested 20 year old Badmus Gbadamosi, for allegedly killing his room-mate, 27 year old Friday Michael, at their home at Mamu, Awa-Ijebu, Ogun State.

According to reports, Michael knew that Badmus was an armed robber and had asked him on two occasion to stop. Badmus reportedly shot Michael dead with a local pistol over fear that he might expose him someday.

For Racheal, after a period of unhappiness and gloom, it was refreshing to see her late son in Oke, her grandson. Holding and caring for him had lightened the gloom, until about three weeks ago, when that changed.

The prettiest female gangster in Nairobi identified as Clea Addi Vybz was killed by police officers during a gun duel last Tuesday, May 9.
