Man Chains Wife To Generator Fom Dusk To Dawn In Ogun State

           The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Ifeanyi Ajaero for allegedly chaining his 28-old -wife, Obiageli Ajaero, to generator from night till the following morning. She was allegedly chained on the night of Friday 14th April till the morning of Saturday 15th April 2017.

Obiageli was said to have been seriously battered by her husband before being chained. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the incident happened at Ewooluwo, Sagamu in Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

Court Rejects Displaced Residents’ Plea To Jail Ambode, CP, Others

Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo of a Lagos State High Court, sitting at Igbosere, yesterday dismissed  an application filed by hundreds of displaced residents of several Lagos waterfront settlements seeking the committal to prison of Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Commissioner of Police, CP, Fatai Owoseni and two others for contempt of court.

 While delivering ruling on contempt, Justice Onigbanjo stated that according to Section 308 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) the governor, who was the third respondent, in the matter had constitutional immunity from prosecution and imprisonment, adding that this meant that the court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the application against him.

EFCC discovers $38m, N23m, £27k, stashed in a home in Ikoyi, Lagos

The antigraft agency discovered the money today. $38 million, N23 million and £27,000 was found stashed in a home in Ikoyi, Lagos. The agency however did not disclose the owner of the home where the stashed money was found.

Banks In Zimbabwe To Be Compelled To Accept Cattle, Goats As Collateral

Commercial banks in Zimbabwe will soon be compelled to accept livestock such as cattle, goats and sheep as collateral for cash loans to informal businesses under a new law presented to parliament Tuesday.

Under the Movable Property Security Interests Bill tabled for debate by Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa in the House of Assembly, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe will compile and administer a collateral-security register in which small-business operators and individuals can register their movable assets as security for credit.

Malala Yousafzai Receives Highest UN Honour

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai a UN Messenger of Peace on Monday to promote girls education, more than four years after a Taliban gunman shot her in the head on her school bus in 2012.

At 19, Yousafzai is the youngest Messenger of Peace, the highest honour given by the United Nations for an initial period of two years. She was also the youngest person to win the Nobel peace prize in 2014 when she was 17.

“You are not only a hero, but you are a very committed and generous person,” Guterres told Yousafzai.

Mother Slumps Repeatedly In Ondo, As Daughter Fails To Show Up For Her Own Wedding

The mother of a bride reportedly slumped when her daughter, Taiwo Orimoloye, failed to show up for her wedding, weekend, in Ondo town, Ondo State.

The bride’s mother, who slumped immediately her daughter’s whereabouts became unknown, was immediately rushed to Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Ondo, for medical attention.

Vanguard gathered that the groom, Abiodun Isaac, and other guests waited endlessly at the church for the ceremony, which was later put off. The officiating ministers reportedly had to call off the wedding after waiting for over two hours for the bride to show up. Both families were worried as all calls put across to her mobile line failed to connect.

How Nigerian Churches Are Encouraging Corruption – Obasanjo

A former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that the activities of church leaders are contributing to the rampart cases of corruption across the country.

Speaking on Saturday at the convention of Victory Life Bible Church International in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Mr. Obasanjo said fighting corruption should not be a one-off affair because it would bounce back with vengeance.

“There is no doubt that all our institutions have been tarnished by the brush of corruption,” Mr. Obasanjo, a retired army general, said in his speech titled ‘The Role of the Church in the Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria.”

Uzor Philip was carrying two bags containing valuables and awaiting a bus going from Oshodi to PWD area of Lagos at about 6pm oblivious of what to happen next.

Philip was the first to enter and sit behind the driver but was persuaded to pair with somebody at the front seat.

On arriving Ladipo, the bus conductor apologized that the front door was faulty, saying there was need to quickly ‘fix’ the problem. The driver slowed down and the ‘co-passenger’ pushed Uzor out even while the bus was still in motion, leaving his two bags and cell phone (Techno W2) behind.
